De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist, and can be a very painful and disabling condition. Patients suffering from De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis may find simple pinching and twisting activities can become almost impossible. The tendons to the thumb become inflamed as they pass under a ligament, and the slightest movement of the wrist can cause pain.
Treatment options for De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis consist of rest, medication and occasionally the use of a steroid injection. If these treatments do not provide relief over time, the tendons can be surgically released. Dr. Berschback will determine what the best course of action is for your De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis.
